UNWANTED
VINES:
Vines
spread through a system of rhizomes, (small rootlet), when you
break or cut the plant off at ground level, the rhizomes send
up many new plants to replace the one you destroyed. The way I
get rid of these pests is to cut the vine, leaving a stub
sticking out of the ground about 2" . Then I take a small
ball of cotton and soak it in the mixture below and set it on
the stub. Because of the fertilizer in the mix, the vine
thinks it being fed and draws in the bleach, committing
suicide. You must re-soak the cotton every day for 3 or 4 days
to completely kill the plant's root system.
To a pint of warm water, add a ½ cup of chlorine bleach and a
teaspoon of dish soap. Shake well before each application.
